Virtual GDS is a standalone educational simulation of Sabre,
Apollo, Galileo, Amadeus, Abacus, or Worldspan. Records created
by students are kept in storage until the instructor chooses to delete them.
Entry formats and responses are identical to those of the simulated computer
reservation system.
Used with the exercises
provided, the simulation provides an accurate, interactive learning system
for automated reservations and ticketing. Instructors may use the exercises
without modification, adapt them to their individual requirements, or design
new exercises using the samples as a guide. The progressive exercises begin
with basic concepts and build on concepts previously mastered.
A working database
of flight schedules and fares enables students to obtain flight availability
and fare displays. |
Virtual GDS can
be used to create passenger name records with mandatory and optional fields,
including SSR, OSI, remarks, address, and form of payment fields. Students
can insert, cancel, and rebook segments; price itineraries; access queues,
client profiles, and reference information; and book car and hotel sell hotel
segments.
An easy-to-use
instructor's toolbox provides numerous tools for customizing or amending
the working database. With this module, the instructor can set or change
student passcodes, list, add, or edit city pairs; list, add, or edit fares;
and delete booking files created by students. The instructor can also list,
add, or edit hotel displays; and list, add, or edit car availability
displays.
